Post-WWII northern German sensibilities meet Prouvé and Perriand

FV House – A Home to Grow Into

Building Narrative designed this Modernist-inspired Kowloon Tong apartment to evolve with a young family. The interior quality depends on the family’s accumulation and curation of houseware, art, and possessions over time.

To facilitate this, a broad shelf anchors the living/dining room, flexibly displaying a television, lamp, art, and framing the outside view. Similarly, a full-height kitchen rack allows spices and kitchenware to contribute to the atmosphere. Items not on display are concealed in a generous kitchen pantry, long corridor closets, nested primary bedroom drawers, and a guest room murphy bed.

Modernist Design cues were taken from post-WWII northern German sensibilities and designers Jean Prouve and Charlotte Perriand, as one client was raised in this environment. The design features Prouve-inspired shelving geometry, white walls, plywood cabinets, an aluminum door, glass brick, and strictly follows Prouve’s color palette. Specific nods include Perriand’s CP-1 lamp and Prouve’s Fauteuil de Salon armchair.
